NZISA Cricket Tournament 2022
This year we entered in our Young Guns team to the Cricket Tournament. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their time and are already excited about next years tournament. Despite the results their spirits are still high to bring home the trophy.
The team played their first game against Bay of Plenty B on Monday, They won the toss and chose to bat first, the openers Keshan Narsai and Mehul Patel got them off to a great start by losing no wickets till the 12th over, our team ended up with a total of 156 runs, the bowlers played exceptionally well and got them all out for under 100 runs, with a special Mention to Ronit Patel (aka Ronit Fifer) who took 5 wickets in that game.
The teams second game was against Pukekohe, who were the winners last year. Our boys yet again won the toss and chose to bowl first. They restricted Pukekohe to 169 runs at the end of 20 overs which seemed like quite a good score considering the long boundaries.
Our openers Mehul and Keshan also put on a wonderful Performance in this game giving no wickets till the 13th over and also keeping a good run rate, our team was on route to winning the game but unfortunately after a few good overs were bowled by Pukekohe they needed 14 off the last 2 overs, unfortunately the boys couldn’t get the job done but it was a awesome game to watch. Big shout out to Vinay Parbhoo and Sanjay Bhanabhai for looking after the team for the tournament. And also all the supporters that came down to watch.
