President’s Report - April

Welcome to our AISC April update,

We have had an eventful start to this anticipated 2023 hockey season.

Our Men’s Premier Team has had a fantastic win over our neighbours Western, followed by two close losses.  This shows they are definitely capable of creating a few upsets with the return of Kennan Bhikha, Jainesh Sukha the new signings of Kieren Chhiba, & Joseph Yoon. Welcome Guys! The team is showing that it is has some solid foundations to build from.

Our Division 1 Women’s team have had two one goal losses against top teams in their grade and one draw; very close results, demonstrating great promise. They are showing signs of being on the positive side of the scorecard very soon.

Last week we were lucky to have our own AISC Club Day at Avondale, with five of our senior teams playing consecutively. The executive members and players created a carnival like atmosphere with signage and a BBQ for our members. Thank you to all our supporters and members who came out despite the weather and helped make this a fun day out.

We are looking forward to the Youth and Juniors commencing their campaigns shortly.

Good luck to our premier men’s goal keeper Dominic Dixon, representing the Black Sticks in the Pro-league and the Oceania Cup tournament in Christchurch.

Good luck also goes to Sanjay Soma representing the New Zealand 50’s Masters age group in the upcoming trans-Tasman tournament against Australia, in Christchurch.
