Cricket update - From Team FTC
Our Club’s young and fit FTC T20 team triumphed through a great season of cricket. Despite the weather interruptions, they pushed and progressed incredibly well. They entered a strong and promising team for the NZICA Cricket Tournament that was held at the beginning of this year, and are looking forward to bringing home the trophy next year.
Read about their journey through the 22/23 season below.
“ This is our second consecutive season participating in the Auckland T20 cricket competition. Compared to last season's results and efforts, it is evident that individuals in the team have come a long way, leading to the team's overall improvement. Our season began with a loss against the Grafton Shockers. However, we did not take this defeat too hard as it was the first game of the season, and we knew we would only get better as the season progressed. It was gratifying to see the weekly training sessions (and Wing Kingdom) paying off as we progressed through the season, managing to lose only one game thus far. There were a few key highlights this season, including bowling out the Cornwall Cornholios for only 27 runs.
One of the significant highlights of the season was our very own Rohan Patel scoring a massive 101 runs against the Cornwall Farmers. We also managed to secure a win after scoring only 75 runs against the Grafton Free Ballers, which was a massive effort from our bowling side. However, one of the struggles our team faced this year was being too reliant on certain players performing. We had a few players out during the season due to injuries, but we managed to pull together a team every week. Although this was a challenge for us, we took it as an opportunity for other players to showcase their abilities and skills on the pitch, which was encouraging to see. Overall, the season went very well for us this year, and the team gave it their all in every game, which was evident. We are looking forward to playing in the final next week against the Grafton Shockers, who will undoubtedly be a challenging opposition, but we remain optimistic about bringing home the win!
Special mention to all the supporters that took their time out of their day to come & support us and a big thank you to Mudraa for managing the team.”
